Celebrating Brianne Schwan: FY24 Remarkable Volunteer Award Winner!
In August, Girls on the Run HQ announced the recipients of their FY24 Remarkable Volunteer Awards, and we are beyond thrilled to share that our extraordinary volunteer and coach, Brianne Schwan, is one of the honorees! This national recognition program shines a well-deserved light on volunteers across the country who make an inspirational impact in their communities—whether as coaches, fundraisers, or steadfast supporters. And Brianne has undoubtedly earned her place among these remarkable individuals.
Brianne is now in her fifth season of coaching with Girls on the Run Union County, and over the course of her first four seasons, she has dedicated at least 150 hours of volunteer work—and likely many more! She pours her heart and "sole" into each practice, always showing up with enthusiasm, compassion, and boundless creativity. Her dedication goes beyond just coaching; she is deeply invested in the girls she mentors, helping them grow in confidence, teamwork, and self-love.
But Brianne’s commitment to Girls on the Run Union County doesn't stop at the track. She has also played a key role in organizing our inaugural fundraising event, the Girls on the Run Union County Wildflower Celebration, which brings the community together to support the program. Her contributions to both coaching and the broader Girls on the Run Union County mission are nothing short of amazing.
Nicole Elzayek, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Union, shared these words: "To know her, is to love her. I am truly amazed by the love and creativity she pours into coaching, which has been recognized many times by the girls and parents she has coached, as well as those who have coached alongside her. She brings such a happy and infectious energy to everything she does, and the girls couldn’t ask for a greater role model."
When nominated for the Remarkable Coach Award, many of her peers and parents echoed these sentiments. One nominator shared, "Brianne goes above and beyond with the girls and this program. Every week she sends a beautiful, glorious email updating us on how the girls are doing and what they are learning." Another added, "She gives them little trinkets of special memories, takes pictures, and simply goes above and beyond with the community activity as well."
We are so grateful for Brianne, and on September 15, we had the honor of presenting her with this prestigious award at our Inaugural Wildflower Celebration. Her commitment, energy, and passion for Girls on the Run Union County have made an indelible mark on our council, and we can’t wait to see how she continues to inspire young girls to become strong, confident leaders.
Congratulations, Brianne! We are so lucky to have you as part of our GOTR family.
